In our churchbooks are no births for this name registered between 1622 and 1781. I also used Ancestry to look for his place of birth, but to no avail. Would have been born as; Constantinus Lautenschlager or Lautenschläger His first name appears to be a Dutch corruption of his actual birth name. Konstantin Lautenschlager or Lautenschläger Religion: Catholic Profession: Master blacksmith & stamp hardener at De Munt in Utrecht, the Netherlands Various birth years are shown online; 1739, 1740 and 1744. 1739 is the correct one based on the Utrecht archives On his prayer card his name is referred to as Constantinus Lauturslager instead of Laut(en)slager. Not known why this is. Constantinus Lautenslager is said to come from Mentz, Germany, which is now Mainz and is located on the Rhine. A specified place, especially abroad, does not necessarily have to be the exact place of birth. If Mentz is given as the place of birth, it could be the city, but also a nearby village. Since our Constantinus has not been found in the city of Mainz, he probably came from the former area of ​​the Electorate of Mentz, but that area consists of hundreds of other places, so that makes research quite difficult.
